Recent Favorite Finds

We have been having the best luck with finding hidden treasures at thrift stores these days. Sometimes when we stumble upon these finds I say to Joel "I just don't understand, why would someone get rid of this?!" Whether big or small, finding fun things like these to fill our home with and spurring us on toward creativity is definitely a hobby/obsession of ours. Here's a quick look at some of these recent finds:

We got this yellow upholstered tufted ottoman at Goodwill... I must say it was a splurge at 15 bones but try to make or find me something cheaper : ) We're not sure exactly where this is going, because we need it for foot resting in our living room but we're not exactly ready to commit to this being the coffee table. Stay tuned.

This lamp we're ultra excited about but not necessarily because of the way it looks. This is in our guest room/office, a room with no lights. Yes, thats right, there are no overhead lights in our two bedrooms. We kind of love this little dysfunction of our place, keeps things interesting. But anyway what we DO have in our rooms are specific outlets that are wired to the light switches. We easily solved the lighting problem in our bedroom with an extension chord reaching from that outlet to each of our bedside lamps. However the guest room/office was a bit tricker because of the placement of the magic outlet, it's kind of an awkward spot to put something (table, desk, etc) that a lamp could sit on top of. So when we found this wall mounted lamp that we could just run the chord up to from the outlet needless to say we were STOKED. It's funky, and weird, and originally white but we slapped a nice bold red on there and LOVE it. Stay tuned to see how this bad boy looks in our (almost done) guest room/office.

Remember I said "whether big or small" well this is a prime example of a small treasure. I picked up this wire basket for a couple bucks and ever since then I just can't imagine my kitchen without it : ) I use it for all kinds of stuff around meal time, but my favorite is laying down a cute cloth napkin at the bottom and tossing some bread in, cutest bread basket ever.

This dresser is even better than a thrift store find... it was FREE! We found it on the curb a few houses down and snagged it. We're pretty obsessed with it and while right now it's got a crowded spot in our guest room/office one day I've got big plans for it in our master bedroom. Oh and while we're at it... see that globe on top? It was .99 cents.

This story kind of has a dramatic ending because we aren't actually keeping it but... this twin bed was $9.99 and we snagged it up after only being at Goodwill for 2 hours. We wanted it in our guest room/office but we recently upgraded to a king bed in our bedroom, therefore putting our old queen in here, so out goes the twin. I'm so obsessed with it we considered storing it but we figure we're better off keeping a queen than a twin.

We have some exciting updates as far as the master bedroom and guest room/office go... a few things I'm not sharing on here intentionally until they are finished : ) So like I've already said a thousand times in this post... stay tuned!
